Attention: Crest Residents!

With catastrophic wildfires becoming the norm, we face the very real danger of experiencing another event similar to the 2003 Cedar Fire.
We can take action to reduce the risk to our homes and community. By joining together, we can accomplish more than we can on our own.

Your neighbors are organizing and applying for our area to become a nationally recognized Firewise Community.

Resident Leader for Crest: J Humphrey crestnortheastfw@yahoo.com
Regional Coordinator for Crest: Diana Griffin southcrestfw@gmail.com

Crest began its Firewise journey in late 2024, when 31 homes in Northeast Crest participated in a pilot program. That application was approved in December 2024, officially designating the area as
a Firewise USA® site. We’re now excited to announce that we’re expanding the program to include all of Crest in 2025.

The Firewise USA® program, led by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), provides communities with a proven framework to enhance wildfire preparedness. Supported by CAL
FIRE’s Community Wildfire Preparedness & Mitigation Division, Firewise promotes collaboration among residents, local fire departments, and other stakeholders to improve the fire
resistance of homes and neighborhoods.

Would you like to be included in this Firewise Community?
The Firewise USA Program is free. It is a grass roots effort of neighbors working together to reduce the risk of wildfire damage in our neighborhood. It only works if we join together…we need
your participation!

Benefits of joining a Firewise Community:

  • Discounts on fire insurance (USAA, CAL Fair Plan, State Farm, Mercury, Allstate, etc.)

  • Access to possible grant funding & assistance with yard clean-up & weed abatement

  • Reduced risk to life and property from wildfire

  • Community building

  • Sharing resources, helping neighbors

Join us! Let’s make a difference! You must join Firewise to take advantage of these benefits.
You can do as little or as much as you can/want.

Please send an email of interest to southcrestfw@gmail.com or call Diana Griffin: (619)

Important note: The Firewise program DOES NOT involve home inspections, pass/fail evaluations,
or citations.
Its purpose is to provide support to residents, and to educate &
organize communities around
practical steps to reduce wildfire risks.
